Edwin Palacio is a first-generation Colombian-American, raised in South Florida, with Spanish as his first language. His passion for law started at Florida International University, where he joined Phi Alpha Delta, a pre-law fraternity, and was inspired by trial attorneys who spoke to the group. He knew then—he wanted to be in the courtroom.
He started his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in South Carolina’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, handling everything from misdemeanors to serious felonies, including attempted murder. He defended over 500 cases and took numerous matters to trial in General Sessions, city, and magistrate courts. Then Edwin worked at a non-profit in Northern Virginia, helping immigrants fight deportation and secure legal status in the U.S.
Now, as the founder of Palacio Law, PLLC, he represents clients in criminal and immigration cases and is never afraid to take a case to trial. He is a member of the DC Superior Court Criminal Justice Act Panel, and defends those facing misdemeanors and felonies in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the DC Superior Court Trial Lawyers Association (SCTLA) as well as Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA).
For Edwin, litigation isn’t just a job—it’s a fight he loves. When he’s not in court, Edwin enjoys exploring Northern Virginia and D.C.’s food scene and museums with his wife, his son and their two dogs.
